Lewisville was originally settled in the 1840s, with the Lewisville Dam started in 1948 and completed in 1954, which was the beginning of the 30,000 acre Lewisville Lake. Lewisville is located on the southern shores of Lewisville Lake, has an abundance of undeveloped land. Lewisville has room for expansion on the east, south and north areas of the city. One of the newer malls in the Metroplex, Vista Ridge Mall, is located on the south side of the city. The Lewisville Independent School District is committed to excellence. There are presently 5 High Schools within the district.
